Hello! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I’m happy that you’ve stumbled across my blog. Let me introduce myself. My name is Louise Farlow. I am a writer of contemporary women’s fiction, although I also love other genres and have previously written Paranormal Romance and Fantasy. If you would like to know more about me straight away, feel free to hop on over to my web page where you will be able to do a bit of a deep dive into my life.
It is a hot, humid day outside although that is to be expected for the start of summer in Brisbane (currently 34°C with a feels like temperature of 39°C). Christmas decorations adorn the shopping centres, and the crowds have gathered. Carparks are the arena where, for the low cost of some frown lines and perhaps a fresh grey hair, you can test both your parking skills and your patience. I am happy my weekend chores are out of the way, and I can hide myself away in front of my computer.
There is the possibility of a late storm this afternoon. As much as I worry for people caught up in the destruction that these storms can bring, I always love to watch a good storm rolling in. The charged atmosphere, the smell of petrichor (the earthy scent produced from rain falling on dry soil) and the sky illuminated by lightning. I feel like a little kid watching fireworks for the first time, every time there is a powerful storm raging outside.
I am currently seeking refuge in my house, enjoying the relief brought by air conditioning and imagining I am back in Europe, after only recently returning from a holiday/late honeymoon. I’m still getting used to being back in the Queensland weather and have found myself questioning over the last two weeks if it’s as hot as I feel, or the beginning of hot flushes.
Before we go any further, I hope you’re comfortable. I love to be curled up with a blanket across my lap, sipping a sinfully delicious hot chocolate. My recent visit to Istanbul also introduced me to the heaven in a glass that is Apple Tea. I will admit a book tends to always be close by. Whether I am reading or writing, I am always content with a book in hand. If I was to be an action figure with an accessory (think Thor with his Hammer), a book would be a safe bet to pair me with.
The purpose of my little blog is quite simple. I am inviting you on a journey. A journey is always better with company after all. When you climb those hills and stop to admire the view, it’s always better to have someone to share it with. I am currently working on a novel, “Murphy’s Bluff”. Over time, I would love to share insights into my work on this story, as well as my general writing life. I will also treat you to some musings about life and other strange things as well as little titbits of knowledge in case you have a writer in your life and want to ensure you are treating them properly. So, if you would like more information on how to care for the strange being called “writer” in your life, stick around and pick up some tips.
I have been writing for as long as I’ve been able to string words together and the love of story telling is deeply imbedded. Writing can be a bit of a solo endeavour, and it is always useful if you have a group of creative people to bounce ideas off and who understand the blood, sweat and tears that go into birthing a story and then hoping to find it a good home where it can flourish.
If you have any questions for me dear reader, feel free to post a comment and I will endeavour to answer.

2025 is here. I don’t know about you, but I like to ease into the new year quietly. Sneak in while it’s distracted by fireworks and drunken revels and hope
Inspiration can be hard to pin down. It can strike during the most unlikely of times or leave you begging. When people find out that I am working on a
